At ATvisor™ we strongly believe that people generally want to make it right. However, we can’t make it right for everyone. The harder we try, the more we fail. We may get frustrated by right intentions being perceived wrongly. There will be people who object us, disagree with us or just don’t like us.

“Treat others as you want to be treated” is a great motto, but doesn’t really work, since what works for us doesn’t necessarily work for others. “Treat others how they want to be treated” is surely better, but doesn’t really do the job either, since we may never fully understand what all the people around us dearly want, partly because they themselves don’t know what they want.

Instead, look at the negated version stating, “Don’t do to others what you don’t want to be done unto you”. While it is impossible to understand what everybody wants, we all know what nobody wants. Nobody wants to be looked down at or judged. Nobody wants to be yelled at and or lied to. Nobody wants to see their efforts criticized. Nobody likes to be bad mouthed, nobody wants to be part of gossip. Nobody likes to be controlled or limited in their talents.

It takes a long time to build up trust and yet it can be destroyed within a second. In the same way, all our great deeds can be erased by one wrongdoing, one wrong move, one wrong word, one wrong action. Think about it.

Instead of trying so hard to get it right for everyone, try not to make it wrong for anyone.

Where can you do right today by not doing wrong?

Make a positive difference by intentionally being different.
