Looking at the amazing – and every growing – capabilities of ChatGPT, we were pondering over this question. What do you think?
Our answer is Yes! – If, and only if, we limited coaching to the traditional approach of asking powerful questions for self-reflections.
At ATvisor™ however, coaching doesn’t stop there. Great coaches are able to direct towards solutions and offer different views for which the coachee may not even have a question.
In other words, a powerful coach can support solving a problem of which the coachee doesn’t even know its existence, nor the underlying root cause.
As an artificial intelligence (AI) language model, ChatGPT is not capable of 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 in the same sense as humans are.
Besides this creativity, 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘆 is the 2nd area where human coaches may excel over AI coaching – and they both are linked. As Ami Vitale said, “Empathy is the wellspring of creativity”.
While it is possible for AI to learn how to detect and reflect emotions – and hence demonstrate a kind of empathy – it is improbable for AI to connect with humans in the same way as humans do with each other. Coaching with empathy requires more than just reflecting emotions. It is about understanding, knowing and truly feeling these emotions – as if we were there ourselves.
Therefore, our coaching strategy to beat ChatGPT is 𝗰𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 – making a positive difference in the lives of people by intentionally being different.
